Brainbuzzz

What’s your business called?

Brainbuzzz

Can you describe it in one sentence?

Neurodevelopment brain rewiring to optimise sensory capabilities for learning issues (dyslexia through to autism) by using movement, because the brain learns through movement).

When did you start it and what inspired you?

As a practice 8 years ago, as a training business 3 years ago. My son was diagnosed with severe dyslexia and I was told that there was no cure and we had to live with it. I said ‘we shall see about that! And I ignored what people told me and searched for answers. I found them; rescued my son’s brain, built an accidental following and now it’s what I do full time.

How did you fund your start up?

Government funding of £40 a week for a year.

How do you manage working around your children?

Most of my training and practice is Friday’s, Saturdays and Sundays so when they aren’t in school their father has them.

Can you describe a typical day?

My work is broken into sections: clinic days; training days; networking and business building. My favourite days are clinic days when I work with patients because it is such powerful yet gentle work, and immensely effective.

What have you found hardest?

Marketing.

What’s the best thing about being self employed?

I have room to breathe and develop other areas as well as be a full time mum. Currently I am launching two more businesses.

What are your plans for the future?

To make all three of these businesses hugely successful and be very healthy myself and achieve my dreams.

What advice would you give for someone just starting out?

Keep good records. Monitor everything. Ask for help from the right people. Keep your costs down. Make goals. Activate the compound effect.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?

My work is pioneering and there’s lots more to come yet.
