Can you describe it in one sentence?

Learn~Enjoy~Amaze~Swim!

A private, friendly, professional swim school teaching an essential life skill to children and adults in a fun and safe environment.

When did you start it and what inspired you?

May 2014 – I work for Waterbabies teaching 0-4 year olds and children that I had been teaching since they were babies were moving on at 4 years old to other swim schools. I decided to start running my own lessons and have never looked back!!

How did you fund your start up?

Waterbabies allowed me to use their equipment, my son designed my leaflets, a a friend helped me with my Facebook page and I just went for it!

How do you manage working around your children?

This is difficult as 2 evenings a week I do not get in until 7.15pm. A childminder, family and good friends are my brilliant support network.

Can you describe a typical day?

School run!
Morning in the office – Check emails, return calls, plan lessons,
Lunch!
Afternoon – Teaching for Waterbabies
Afterschool – Teaching our Amaze~Swimers!!
Home
Childrens bedtime
Shower
Dinner
Bed!!!

What have you found hardest?

Getting good childcare – juggling the children and working.

What’s the best thing about being self employed?

Deciding what to do and when to do it!! and having that self motivation to grow an acorn into an oak!

What are your plans for the future?

To continue providing Amaze~Swim lessons!

What advice would you give for someone just starting out?

Have a plan, believe in yourself and Go for it!!
