Virtual assistant and some business admin

When did you start it and what inspired you?

Last November after being made redundant

How did you find your start up?

There have been highs and lows. It’s never plain sailing. You’re just about to pack it all in and then something good happens.

How do you manage working around your children?

I work when they are napping, at nursery and in the evenings.

Can you describe a typical day?

Every day is different but if I don’t have my boys I spend the morning on my laptop doing work and then making phone calls to clients, once I’ve collected the boys from nursery we spend a few hours playing or go out with friends. After dinner and bed its back to work!

What have you found hardest?

That even when I’m busy I need to be thinking of the next job coming in.

What’s the best thing about being self employed?

I can spend time with my boys whilst they are little as I can be flexible with my work hours.

What are your plans for the future?

To grow the business so that I can employ other mums who can work at home.

What advice would you give for someone just starting out?

Make sure you seek advice from a business coach to get you (and keep you) on the right track
